week of June 15th - 19th
my guess is they're digging down to the big plumbing
(as seen best in the Pigeon's
view a few pages back) so they can put a manhole cover to
it from street level... nice to see Pewabic being patched back
up
black topping getting ready to start!
hard to see from in front of our shop, but we can hear
what they're doing down the street ("jackhammering"
away at more rock!) - I had a pedestrian stop to visit who said
those huge chunks of rock are loaded with copper veins - wonder
where those are being dumped, eh?! (be nice if they hit a "motherlode"
that could be some nice parking deck funds!!)
I'm sure to some folks this looks boring (especially
as we already posted pics of blacktopping in the Ambassador's
block) - but to us this is so exciting
no dirt!!!
well, no dirt until you turn and look the other direction...
exciting that we have two blocks and two intersections now with
no dirt 'n digging any longer!
Tom must find this all interesting yet... I'd rather
avoid the construction zone (and the dirt!) which is why I walk
on the upper parking deck behind all these businesses when I go
down the way
right on the heals of the blacktoppers - they're quick
to get pavers down on our block (out in front of Travel Lodge)
almost as much fun to watch the local "foremen"
as it is the progression of the work (got them on both sides of
the street in this shot)
they're nearly to the corner of our building!
now that we have modern sidewalks again, it's almost
shocking to see so many pedestrians come and go... imagine how
weird it will be when we start seeing cars go by again!!!
whoo hoo! they're making it to the end of our block
before Bridgefest weekend
By now you've noticed that we have less then half the
photos we normally would... this is because so much of what's
happening in front of our shop right now has already been photographed
down in the first block - consequently many of our new photos
would be nearly identical to those older ones (which would probably
get boring for the viewer)
plus we aren't on the "sidelines" of the
action any longer so we can't know if an interesting shot is available
or not...
and we do have real work to get done so we can't spend
our days wandering down the street to hang out and hope for interesting
shots...
soooo....
note: we can't guarantee all images offered will make
it onto the website... especially if we get a huge response to
this invite... also, be aware that no payment will be made for
the use of your photos
